Pre-production & governance

The best time to fix a production problem is before it becomes footage.

Mandatory production pack

Schedule, call sheet, contacts and escalation path

  • 7

Location survey with sound, light, power, access and security notes

  • 8

Contributor, location, music, artwork and data releases

  • 9

Risk assessment, insurance and safeguarding controls where relevant

Location intelligence

  • 1

Scout in person or by live video at the time of day you expect to shoot. Photos hide noise, access constraints, color casts and reflections

  • 2

Record at least 30 seconds of test sound. Check HVAC, lifts, refrigerators, traffic, PA systems and neighboring rooms.

  • 3

Map sun direction, window control, practical fixtures, power, rigging permissions and safe cable routes.

  • 4

Confirm confidentiality: screens, whiteboards, badges, documents, visitors and unreleased products.

  • 5

    Plan a primary setup, a lower-footprint alternative and a weather/noise fallback.

Security

  • 1

Cards and drives are labeled, logged and held by named owners.

  • 2

At least two verified copies exist before media leaves the production environment.

  • 3

Transfer uses an approved encrypted method; links have appropriate access and expiry.

  • 4

AI transcription, enhancement or generation tools are approved for the sensitivity of the material.

  • 5

Retention and deletion responsibilities are agreed in writing.
